Introduction
Welcome to the SEND Information section of our website.
At Woodhouse Primary Academy, we recognise that all pupils are entitled to a quality of provision that will enable them to achieve their potential. We believe in positive intervention, removing barriers to learning, raising expectations and levels of achievement and working in partnership with other agencies in order to provide a positive educational experience for all our pupils including those with a special educational need or disability.
Our school recognises there are particular groups of pupils whose circumstances require additional consideration by those who work with them to support their SEN. We believe these children have the right to an ambitious and inclusive education, which gives them knowledge and skills to be successful in their lives.
Our SENDCO is Mrs Laura Hudson.
It is the SENCO’s job to:
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy
- Liaise with the relevant Designated Teacher where a looked after pupil has SEN
- Advise teachers on using a graduated approach to providing SEN support
- Advise on the deployment of the school’s delegated budget and other resources to meet the pupil’s needs effectively
- Liaise with parents/carers of pupils with SEN Liaise with and be a key point of contact for external agencies
- Ensure that the school keeps the records of all SEN pupils up to date
- Work with the head teacher and school governors to ensure that the school meets its responsibilities, with regard to reasonable adjustments and access arrangements
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
The SENCO works closely with staff ensure all teachers in school understand the implications for those children who are looked after and have SEND. At Woodhouse Primary Academy we ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress.
